Randstad Awards 2014


The Randstad awards 2014 for the most effective employer was bagged by Microsoft for the fourth consecutive time. SBI won the award in banking sector where as Taj group won in hospitality sector.

New found planet Kepler-186f


NASA has very recently discovered a new found planet near earth which has shown predominant signs of life. The new planet Kepler-186f has been detected from NASA’s Kepler telescope and is found to have a similar temperature like earth which gives a hope that there might be life. Kepler telescope was found in 2009 and since then it has confirmed 961 planets but none of them have shown such signs of life. The planet was found in the hospitable 'Goldilocks zone' thats just about right in temperature to support life (neither too hot nor too cold).

Narendra Kothari, new chairman of NMDC


National Mineral Development Corporation has received its new chairman as Narendra Kothari. NMDC was working without a full time chairman since 2011 when Rana Som retired. NMDC is the biggest iron ore miner of India. About NMDC - It was found in 1958 and is headquartered in Hyderabad.

Vietnam to not host Asian Games in 2019


Vietnam PM Nguyen Tan Dung announced that Vietnam has pulled out from hosting the 18th Asian Games in 2019 in Hanoi citing that the country can’t afford to finance the whole ceremony due to lack of preparation and economic recession.

New President of Algeria


Abdelaziz Bouteflika is set to become the President of Algeria for consecutively 4th time as he has been in power since 1999.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez dies


Nobel Prize winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez dies at the age of 87. He was honored with literature novel in 1982 for his contribution in the field. One of his most famous books was “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and he was also known as Charles Dickens of Columbia.
