  • Well, for working women, it gets tricky.

Before marriage if you are working or have colleagues, after marriage, it's like forgetting about it all. And by any chance if you need a reference from your older colleagues, they would not recognize you.

  • Marriage is the bonding and commitment between two individuals. If a man can choose to keep his surname, then why not a woman? The feelings and affections doesn’t change with the name. the surname of the girl was the one with which she had been accepted for the marriage, then there is no necessity to get that changed.

Gone were the days when woman used to be the responsibility of men. They are no more burden on anybody and carries the aptitude to earn her livelihood. When she has the capability to get recognised with her name in this world, then there doesn’t require any necessity to get the surname changed.

Changing the surname is nothing but another trait of the male dominant society which searches for lame meaningless things to be imposed on women forcibly, just to make her understand her status in comparison to men. It is women who has courage and strong will power to show her feast to the world with all such silly rules and regulations. Men definitely would have lost the battle if they were kept in women’s place.
