The country wants scholars, not dollars!

It is said that money is the most important thing in the world. There is other group who is against the thought. As per the later group it is the scholars who are more important than dollars. Scholar and dollars both are necessary for the economic development of country. So, what is it that our country needs? Does our country need scholars or needs dollars?

Scholars

• For economic development, the country needs to focus on infrastructure, and a successful infrastructure is prepared by a scholar. It is applicable in all other field including medicine, education and others.

• The availability of proper human resources in the form of scholars drives the productivity and efficiency of any work.

• It is the scholars who control dollars as without right use of dollars there will be no progress on economic front.

• The Ambani Brothers got almost equal share of their father’s property, but it is Mukesh Ambani who used the funds wisely to become the richest person in India.

• Dollars can just bring economic change, but it is the scholars who are always one step ahead and bring the necessary socio-economic changes in people’s lives.

• Take the example of Japan that has got no natural resources but is still one of the top economies. On the other hand, Russia has got pool of natural resources but still is not doing well. Ghana belongs to same category.

Dollars

• Can anyone tell from where scholars come? They become scholars after formal education that requires dollars.

• Can anyone tell how can a company survive without funds? There are many scholars in the world but still they need dollars to run a company.

• If any country wants to progress then there is a strong need of financial stability without which it will face domestic as well as international problems.

• The best example is of India’s high fiscal deficit. Despite of the presence of intelligent scholars, the country has failed to narrow the fiscal deficit.

• Someone said it is scholars who control the dollars. Well it is just opposite case. Even scholars will not work if they don’t get dollars.

• The countries like Africa, Asia and Latin America that lacks funds are suffering from poverty and the most frightening thing in these countries is child slavery leaving no room for the young blood to become scholars.

Conclusion

Scholars or Dollars, these are two important things that every country needs to survive. India lacks funds and therefore, the scholars from India move to the foreign countries to get a lucrative job. Money is important but then no one can ignore the importance of brain power. Late Dhirubhai Ambani used his brains to generate funds and then was able to set up Reliance. In all, scholars and the dollars are the two sides of same coin, and both are required to run a country well.

  • i totally agree with deepa that both are important for society but to some extent dollar has a upper hand. for example a scholar like our former prime minister who was a gold medalist in economics, could not bring any change in the economic condition in our country without any dollar and in order to raise dollars the economy went for a toss.

  • Scholars would bring wisdom; they would provide strategy for economic, political & social development of the country. But without dollars they would not have the means to implement these strategies. On the other hand, if the country has abundance of dollars it will have the necessary means to implement ideas but without scholars there would be lack of effective strategies for social, political & economic development.

One can argue that scholars would be able to identify sources for finance and where a country has dollars it can hire scholars for helping with devising strategies but for a successful country it is necessary to have both Scholars & Dollars. The reason why it is best to have a bit of both is because a country cannot always hire required talent to deliver on its requirement let’s suppose we as a country want to develop nuclear weapons can we hire all scientists from outside the country without having some of our own, consider the implication if we were to enter in a conflict with another country and a citizen of that country happened to have programmed our weapons there is a risk that we may be unable to use that weapon on the opponent while also having to think the weapon may do damage to us instead of the enemy at the time of need. Similarly, if a country has plenty of scholars, they may not always be able to identify & source funds as required.
