Riding High: Infosys Secures Deal With Daimler AG


Software giant Infosys has secured a deal with German automaker Daimler AG for management of infrastructure services and data centres. The shares of this IT major moved up by almost 3% as a result of this deal to Rs. 3,323 which has further extended earlier gains on the stock market.

The deal involves management of infrastructure services and data centres for providing e-collaboration and middle-ware services along with overseeing of database operations said the IT major in a statement. The agreement between the 2 companies was signed in the second quarter of the financial year 2013 to 2014 by Infosys. The transition for starting of operations for this deal commenced in the first quarter of 2014-2015.

The financial details surrounding this deal have not been revealed . The stock opened at Rs. 3,249 with a total of 540, 000 shares being traded on the NSE and BSE up till now.

Infosys will now be providing numerous technology-related services to the German auto-maker as part of the deal which will cover management of data centres as well as infrastructure services management.

The company will also provide e-collaboration and middle-ware services apart from overseeing database operations. Infosys has reached the completion of the takeover operation of the data centres of Daimler AG in Europe. The company will support continuous improvement and implementation of best practices in all its data centre operations. Infosys is also looking to ensure standardisation of service delivery as per the release issued by the company.

The software firm has also indicated that the collaboration will ensure optimisation of data centre operations using secure cloud technologies . The service is to be provided from Daimler's enterprise operations office located at Bangalore.

Ruchir Budhwarr who is the associate vice president and head at the automotive in Europe for Infosys has been quoted by Financial Express as saying “This engagement reflects our proven expertise in managing large infrastructure programmes, reinforces our strategic focus on the automotive sector and significantly expands our growing presence in the German market.”

The IT services giant has made significant gains as a result of the deal with Daimler AG. This collaboration will provide the foundation for optimisation of data centre operations in a unique and unprecedented manner according to Budhwarr who was quoted by Economic Times as saying "Radically changing markets and customer demands are making manufacturers relook at their technology backbones to seek solutions that enable rapid response at manageable costs and without disruption".

Infosys will oversee the day-to-day operations using innovation and transformation as its key corporate mission.
