German Or Sanskrit - Which should be the third language of KVs?

German Or Sanskrit - Which should be the third language of KVs?

The new controversy linked with Smriti Irani is here. As per the HRD Minister, the existing arrangement of languages in the Kendriya Vidyalayas was in violation of the three languages set formula. In the matter she wanted to replace German with Sanskrit as the third language. She added on Friday that German will remain as an "additional subject of hobby class". Do you support her decision?

Yes

• Sanskrit should be promoted as third language as there is a dire need to create the future of the next-gen on a solid cultural background.

• Sanskrit touches the root of India’s history and being such an important language it deserves to get the status of third languages in KVs.

• Sanskrit forms the base of many Indian languages and therefore should be made the third language.

• It is a high time that Indian should be proud of their heritage. The historical evidence shows that Einstein and other scientists learnt Sanskrit and went through Vedas for making significant developments.

• When Germans considers Sanskrit as the root language, why cannot Indians understand the simple thing?

No

• Like there is a set top box with all mixes providing options, KVs should also have the options where the choice of selection should be given to students.

• Our country is a democratic country and as per it practicality remains in choices. There should be no bondage on students to accept the posed decision.

• German is the language that can help students to get job outside India, however, Sanskrit is not a global language.

• HRD Minister is wasting time on unnecessary issues. There are so many other issues to be handled like education on the existing tax structure, law and other important subjects making a base to earn a livelihood.

• The BJP got the majority as the old and young want jobs, economic growth and better governance. Making such decisions instead of making substantial decisions, is purely a waste of time.

• Emotions might support Sanskrit but practical approach is to accept German as the third language.

• Dropping German and replacing it with Sanskrit in midway is like playing with the careers of the students.

Conclusion

Smriti Irani's decision is half-cooked that can negatively impact the career of students. If any decision is to be made, it can be made in the session’s end. Also, it was required that she must have taken the views of the students. Such decisions cannot be imposed on the students. It questions the credibility of HRD Minister and the impact of her decisions.

  • The selection of study of any language should be forced upon by any government.
We Elect the government for governance not to force us to make a choice between selection of languages ... it should focus on giving better education thats what we elect the government for if govt thinks that our choices are not correct then they themselves have no right to be the government because they are our choice
