Summits & Meetings - Current Affairs for February, 2015

The meeting was co-Chaired by Minister of Commerce & Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Myanmar Union Minister of Commerce U Win Myint. The 5th JTC was preceded by a meeting of senior officials of India and Myanmar on 16th February, 2015.

Re-Invest India 2015 is a platform to engage bankers to come up with innovative financing models for renewable energy.

This meeting was held to enhance cooperation in the fields of bilateral investment, infrastructure, SMEs, agriculture, health, energy, skill development & entrepreneurship, pharmaceuticals and tourism.

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee presided over a two day Conference of Governors on February 11 and 12, 2015 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This was the 46th such Conference to be held in Rashtrapati Bhavan and the third Conference to be presided over by Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

Senior officials from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal met on 2-3 February at Raichak near Kolkata to finalize a Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA) for a seamless transit of passenger and cargo vehicles between their countries and draw up plans for its speedy implementation. It is expected Agreement to be signed at a meeting of Transport Ministers of the four countries to be held soon this year.

The minister Shri Anantan G Geete also released the Special Edition of KALEIDOSCOPE magazine based on the theme of the summit i.e. “HR for the Future – Unleashing Human Potential”.

Twenty five speakers and seven deputy speakers hailing from across the country attended the meet which delved upon several issues pertaining to the smooth functioning of the houses and how to make its proceeding more productive and least disturbing besides making it paperless.
