- Wideband Code Division Multiple Access is a wideband spread-spectrum mobile air interface. It can achieve higher speeds as it uses the direct-sequence spread spectrum method of asynchronous code division multiple access.

Its typical characteristics are:

1. Radio channels of 5MHz width.
2. Chip rate of 3.84 Mcps.
3. Coherent detection on both the uplink and downlink streams.
