Agricultural Information Technology is the study that combines the Agricultural studies with IT. This course is offered in both ways as B Sc and B Tech program. B Sc Agricultural Information Technology is a 3 year course, whereas the B Tech version is 4 year in duration. The eligibility criteria requires the students to have passed 12th class in science stream with both mathematics and biology as mandatory subjects. The aggregate for applying for the entrance examination for this course is usually around 50% in PCMB.
This is a fresh sector which has good scope. Since very few students take up the combination of subjects PCMB in 12th and then pursue this field, the competition reduces in the job front which makes the career prospects better in comparison to the other fields. Chief Employment areas are the State agricultural board / departments which recruits these graduates for their Database Management in the Agricultural sector, the website designing, software development and management etc. There are also other Agricultural products production industry, Agricultural product marketing firms, Agricultural Consultancy firms, Agricultural Institutes and Universities who offer relevant IT jobs to the Agricultural IT graduates.
