Details regarding Anesthesia Technology Course

I thought administering anesthesia can be only done by doctors who have done MBBS. But I recently heard of a course called B Sc in Anesthesia Technology. What is its eligibility criteria and its job prospects?

Anaesthesia technology is a job oriented course in which the anaesthesia technician assists the doctors during surgery by administering appropriate dosage of anaesthesia and operating the required anaesthesia equipment whenever required during the surgery. In majority of the institutes the eligibility is 12th pass with PCB with minimum of 45% marks.

Job prospects for anaesthesia technician are:

- Pre, intra and post surgery anaesthesia administration and patient monitoring
- ICUs and CCUs
- Operation theatres
- Anaesthesia supply and stock department
- Anaesthesia equipment set-up etc.
