How to become astrophysicist?

I have done PCM in my 12th standard. How should I proceed with my career to become an astrophysicist?

It is good to have science with PCM to go with the career for Astrophysics. Astrophysics is not a field that can be started directly at the graduation level. Students need to pursue graduation with physics like B Sc Physics or B Tech or B E at the graduation level.

After completing graduation, interested students should go for M Sc in Astrophysics. Indian Institute of Astrophysics is one of the best options that offers an integrated M Sc and Ph D program in Astrophysics. If the students are unable to get in to this institute, there are other options as well like the Indian institute of Science in Bangalore etc. Institutes like GMRT and IUCAA also offer research positions for such course.

At this level students should be well focused and try to have a good understanding of the subjects of physics and mathematics. Practical skills are equally important, but having a clear picture of all the concepts and a refined knowledge of the subject is of utmost importance.
