What are occupational therapy courses? Can you list a few such courses. Can Occupational therapy be pursued at the graduation level after completing 12th?

Occupational therapy is the field of science that provides the assessment parameters and provides treatment measures for those set of people who require help and recovery, or want to maintain the state of recovered health from the state of physical, mental or cognitive disorder.

Occupational Therapy is provided both as graduation and post-graduate courses. So, this can be pursued after completing 12th standard preferably with science stream (PCB).

Occupational therapy is provided as Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and Certificate courses that can be pursued after 12th. The undergraduate courses available in occupational therapy are:

• Bachelor Of Occupational Therapy (BOT) – 4 years duration
• B Sc in Occupational Therapy ( B Sc OT) – 3 years duration
• Diploma in occupational Therapy – 3 years duration

The courses are provided in the order of value of their degree. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is considered the best in this group. Though the B Sc and diploma degree is of same duration and even quality of study remains more or less similar, still the B Sc course is considered better over its diploma counterpart. There are numerous certificate courses in Occupational therapy available in India. These courses are of very short duration and lack quality education both in theoretical and practical aspect. This lowers the career prospects of the certificate courses.
