I am doing my final year B.E. mechanical engineering. I have passion to fly, so interested in pursuing my career into IAF. How should I go ahead with preparation for AFCAT. Would clearing AFCAT pave my entry to IAF?

The candidate should have a minimum aggregate of 60% in graduation to be eligible for AFCAT exam. Though the eligibility remain open for flying and ground duty, yet there are specific requirements for the technical branch. The candidate requires to have completed 8 subjects from the single list, out of the lists displayed for eligibility into technical branch.

Following few basic measures could be helpful in AFCAT preparation:

1. Know the syllabus of study
2. Practice the previous years question papers
3. Work out on time management to make sure to complete the exam in specified time.
4. Prepare and revise from your own notes
5. Make newspaper reading a regular habit
6. Enhance vocabulary and verbal English

AFCAT is one of the steps for becoming an IAF. After clearing the AFCAT test, candidate would be called for the SSB (Service Selection Board) test. After clearing the SSB test, the candidate is sent for medical fitness test which is conducted by the Air Force Medical Authorities. Those who pass the medical test, the final merit list is prepared.
