Requirement of different resume for different job applications

Can I make one resume and use that for applying every job profile or should I prepare different resume every time I apply for a job?

The resumes should be modified to match the applied job profile. Every job profile has specific skill set requirements and the resume of the candidate should be designed on those lines. It does not imply that the candidate should start preparing a new resume every time they start the job search.

The candidate can create a resume which has all the background details. This resume can be altered and tailor-stitched according to the applied job position and the requirements. The objective statement (if presented), career summary and key skills should be the main area of focus while making the modifications. The candidate might have to work on the modification process to a great extent when the job profile differs markedly from one another.
