Yes, students can definitely apply and appear for SAT even if their score is not well in 12th standard examination. The SAT exam doesn’t have any marks in their eligibility criteria. A good student having a good percentile is all that is required for the selectors.
If a student fails to score well in both 12th standard and SAT exam, then the confidence level drops for that particular student and their performance level. But, when the student has a good SAT score even after getting less than 90% in 12th exam, the students may have a rational explanation for the fall in their performance in the 12th examination. If the students become capable of convincing the selection committee with their reasoning for less percentage in 12th exam, then their selection is possible. Hence, students should not lose hope or avoid registering for SAT just for having a lesser score in 12th. They should prepare well and definitely attempt for the SAT.
