- An axial flow compressor and an axial flow reaction turbine are similar in appearance.
- The air flows parallel to the axis of compressor in an axial flow compressor. Each row of rotor blade is followed by a companion set of stator blades fixed on th casing.
- The axial flow compressor has rotating and stationary components. In these blades, a pair of fixed blade and rotor blade is called as stage. Therefore, a stage is a pair of rotating and stationary airfoils.
