President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement 2015 to children with exceptional abilities and outstanding attainments in numerous fields on the occasion of Children’s Day. Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva award for outstanding contributions to service for children were also announced by the GoI. National Awards for Child Welfare 2014 were also conferred on this day.

    - The Ministry of Women and Child Development instituted the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Sewa Award for Service to Children in 1994 to honor an individual who makes an outstanding contribution towards service for children.
    - Vaijayanti Chougala, has been selected for the Rajiv Gandhi Manava Seva Award for the year 2015-16.
    - Ms. Chougala is rendering social service through various programmes, including an orphanage “Mamata”, ‘Ujjwala Rehabilitation Centre’ for victims of child trafficking, shelter home for ragpickers, creche for poor working and ailing mothers, prevention of child marriages, awareness programmes on child trafficking, environment awareness, organising children festivals, etc.
    - The award carries cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, a certificate and a citation
