- Eutectoid steel contains 0.8 % Carbon.
- Steel having less amount of carbon is called as hypo-eutectoid steel. It also contains free ferrite in addition to pearlite.
- Steel having high amount of carbon are called as hyper-eutectoid steel. It contains free cementite.
- The eutectoid carbon content is lowered if elements such as nickel, chromium are present.
