The quality control charts for variables include:

    1) X chart :

    a) They are used to study distribution of measured data.
    b) Size of variables and shows the process of centering.

    2) R chart : These charts are used for the purpose of dispersing the measured data.

The quality control charts for attributes include:

    1) P chart :

    a) These charts are used widely used for attributes.
    b) These are used for evaluating fraction defectives.
    c) They are used to identify samples which lack quality control and are out of acceptable limits

    2) nP chart: It is simplified version of P chart and are used when number of items are constant in a sample.

    3) C chart: These charts are used to study number of defects per unit of product.

    4) U chart: This chart is similar to C chart and just differs with respect to area over which the defects are measured.
