Life-cycle stages of an electronic instrument includes the design and development, production, storage & transport and operation. In design stage, reliable specifications creates an asset for the development stage.

These specifications are decided on the basis of certain factors like the selection of component, design of circuits without undue stresses on component, investigation regarding the component failures, protection by means of environmental testing and the provision of extensive prototype testing to meet the specifications in terms of reliability and performance.

The production stage involves the skillful sort of training, effective production methodologies, utility of standard tools & equipments, considerations of testing methods and working environment.

Storage and transport stage involves packaging of instruments, control of storage temperature and humidity levels and the consideration of transportation factors corresponding to vibrations, mechanical shocks and pressure.

Operation stage deals with the installation and correctness of handling operations with respect to several environmental conditions.
