- The diagram shown in question above is of
Countersinking
operation.
- It is an operation of formation of a conical shape at the end of a hole drilled in a workpiece as shown in diagram.
- The cutting speed of countersinking operation must be about one-half of that used in drilling of the same size.
- When the countersunk screw is to be fitted into drilled hole, then the countersinking operation is performed so that the top face of screw has to be in flush with the top surface of the workpiece.
- It is also applicable for deburring holes.
