    where, n-Member of truss, J- joints, R-reaction

    Substituting in the above we get, it is defficient Truss.

    - The condition for redundant truss is n > 2j – R

    Given: joints = 8, number of members = 10 and reaction components = 4

    Substituting the given values in the condition n > 2j – R

    10 > (2 x 8) - 4

    10 < 12, hence it is a not a redundant truss

    For deficient truss, n < 2j – R

    In this condition, 10 < 12

    Therefore, the truss is a deficient truss.
