    The intergranular corrosion can be avoided by using following techniques:

    1) By using post weld heat treatment

    2) Using low carbon grade stainless steel reduces the carbon available for precipitation of carbon carbide.

    3) Using stabilized steel of stainless steel: Titanium and niobium in steel prevent carbon to combine with chromium, thus avoiding formation of chromium carbide.
