INS Vikrant (Hercules for the British Royal Navy) , decommissioned in 1997 was first aircraft carrier of India.Royal British Navy's HMS Hermes was inducted in Indian navy in 1987 as INS-Viraat. It had participated in the Falkland wars the aircraft carrier. Navy planning to decommission it in 2016, because of expensive repair work & its technology became obsolete.
