Karnataka tops Indian states when it comes in Tiger population states

Karnataka is already No. 1 when it comes to the country's tiger population and its lush forests are home to more big cats than 406, the number thrown up by the national tiger census report in 2014. Census report released by Wildlife Institute of India in protected areas has found a healthy tiger population here. The findings clearly indicate that protected areas, located in the confluence of the Eastern and Western Ghats, have scope for adequate funding and more protection under the Project Tiger initiative.
