Lala Lajpat Rai was the first President of the organisation. The 94 year old welfare organisation was established by Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai. Some prominent personalities who had been President of the Mandal include Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon, former Gujarat Chief Minister Balvant Rai Mehta, former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and renowned socialite and eminent journalist Dr.Radhanath Rath. The Mandal has branches in Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha which are engaged in various health and developmental works.
