    - Lapping is a finishing process. It is followed after grinding.

    - Lapping is designed to produce an exceptionally high degree of surface finish.

    - A perfectly true surface accurate to original size within extremely close limits can be produced by lapping operation.

    - Therefore, lapping operation is carried out for finishing, where finish is more important than dimensional accuracy.

    - Cast iron, brass, bronze, soft steel are used as lapping materials.

    - Some of the examples of lapping operation are as follows:
