LC oscillators generally operate at high frequencies in the range of 200kHz to few GHz. Therefore, they are preferred for high frequency applications & usually unsuitable for low operating frequencies since the values of inductor (L) & capacitor (C) would be very large at low frequencies.
RC oscillators operate at low frequencies in the range of 20 Hz to 100 kHz. Hence, they are preferred for low frequency applications.
LC oscillators are simple from construction point of view and oscillations can also be obtained at very high frequencies. Thus, LC oscillators are applicable in the form of high frequency generator.
