- The highest possible percentage of clay contents in loam sand is 50.
- The loam sand is used for loam moulding of large gray-iron casting. It is also used in construction as bricks can be made up of loam sand and water by adding a binding material such as rice husks.
- Percentage of clay contents in green sand which is the sand in its natural or moist state is less than that of the loam sand
