    Best size wires

    - Best size wires touch threads exactly at the pitch point. These wires are used because pitch diameter is least affected by errors which are present in angle of thread. Readings of these wires are independent of thread angles.

    Two and three wire method

    - In these methods, accurate results are obtained only if thread angle is correct. If thread angle is correct, no error is observed in thread pitch and the wires touch straight portion of the flank.
