Given:
velocity = 5 m/s, weight of man = 60 kg
Formula: Force = mg + ma
Solution:
According to Newton's 2
nd
law, rate of change of linear momentum is directly proportional to impressed force.
Force = mg + ma
As lift moves with constant velocity, acceleration (a) =0
Substituting the given values,
Force = mg
= 60 x 9.81
= 588.6 N
The reactive force acting on the man by the elevator is 588.6 N.
