Fast and loose pulley drive: This flat belt drive system has two pulleys mounted on driven shaft and one pulley on driving shaft.

    - The pulley keyed to driven shaft is known as fast pulley which transmits power from belt to driven shaft.

    - The pulley which rotates freely on driven shaft is known as loose pulley and cannot transmit power.

    - These pulleys are used when driven shaft is needed to start or stop without stopping driving shaft.

Cone pulley drive: These drives are used for changing speed of driven shaft when driving shaft runs at constant speed.

Multiple belt drive: These drives are used when power is transmitted from one shaft to number of shafts connected in parallel.
