- The diffusion process in vaned diffuser is achieved in short radial distance by passing the gas over aerofoil blades. This can prevent flow separation.
- The friction losses are increased due to use of aerofoil blades, but at the same time it provides high energy conversion efficiency.
- To reduce these friction losses, the numbers of fixed blades are kept low in numbers. It can also avoid the problem of blade stalling and shock waves formation. Therefore, the diffuser blades are kept 1/3 rd of number of impeller blades.
