    • Ratio of absolute or dynamic viscosity to mass density of fluid is known as kinematic viscosity.

    • Kinematic viscosity (ν) = absolute viscosity / mass density
    ν = μ/ρ
    • μ = N-s / m2 is converted into kg-m / s2 - s / m2 & ρ = kg / m3

    • Therefore, kinematic viscosity (ν) = m2 / s

    • C.G.S. unit of kinematic viscosity – cm2 / s

    • cm2 / s is known as stoke.
