The immune system turns against the body rather than protecting it in these diseases. Scientists have said that cGAS enzyme’s activation plays a key role in these diseases. Researchers also found legal autoimmunity as a result of inability to degrade lysosomal DNA through lack of DNA digesting enzyme referred to as DNase-II.
