Tachometer or inexpensive frequency counter adopts ICM7555 /CMOS 555 which provides low power in order to generate gating, STORE and RESET signals.

In this circuit, the timer is configured in such a way that it acts as a stable multivibrator with an intention to provide the gating signal.

System calibration is performed with an usage of 5 MΩ potentiometer and a 1 kΩ potentiometer for 'RA' as a coarse control for 'RB' as a fine control respectively.

However, generation of gating ,STORE & RESET signals is the major purpose of consuming low power ICM7555 /CMOS 555 in tachometer or inexpensive frequency counter.
