Pumps are classified into two main categories.
1. Positive Displacement Pumps
2. Dynamic Pressure Pumps
Positive Displacement Pump is the pump which operates by forcing a fixed volume of fluid from the inlet pressure section of the pump into the discharge zone of the pump. The following pumps come into this category,
- Reciprocating Pumps
- Rotary Displacement Pumps
The centrifugal pumps come under the category of dynamic pressure pump.
