Newall system is used to standardize limits and fits. This system provides range of clearance, transition and interference fits for sizes upto 12''.
- It is a bilateral hole basis system with 6 grades of shaft tolerance and provides two classes of holes for different degree of precision.
- The Newall system consists of two grades of bilateral holes, two of press fit, three clearance fits and one transition fit.
- Newall system is also a limit system and the limits are given to six classes of shafts. These include F and D for press fit, P for transition fit, XYZ for clearance fit, where F = Force, D = Driving, P = Push, Z = Running, Y = Running, X = Running.
