Slenderness ratio: It is defined as the ratio of effective length (Le) of column to least radius of gyration (k).

    - λ = Le / k

    - Slenderness ratio is used to determine various types of columns such as short, long or intermediate.

    - This ratio helps in determining the type of failure, the column undergoes.

    - Slenderness ratio for short columns does not exceed 50 and long columns have slenderness ratio greater than 200. The intermediate longs have slenderness ratio between 50 and 200.
