    - The deformation of a material caused due temperature variation is known as natural deformation. As temperature rises and falls, the material contracts or expands.

    - When deformation is caused naturally, no stress and strain are developed in the material.

    - Temperature or thermal stress is induced when expansion or contraction due to temperature variation is prevented.
