Centrifugal pump is a commonly used type of dynamic pressure pump. It works on the principle of that when a certain mass of liquid is made to rotate along the impeller form the central axis of rotation, it impresses a centrifugal head.
The water in centrifugal pump the water moves radially outward at higher velocity and then it rises to a higher level. Therefore, centrifugal pump is also called as velocity pump.
Casing of pump restricts the motion of water and it results into pressure build up. The change in angular momentum of liquid during its flow results into increase in pressure head.
