  • In the recent BIMSTEC Leaders meeting on the sidelines of the 8th BRICS Summit, There was consensus on some issue which proposed for speedy development of coordinating agencies.
  • Recognizing the need for development, access and availability of technology- including for SMEs- for promoting sustainable development across sectors, the BIMSTEC Leaders’ Retreat 2016 Outcome Document directed for early finalization of the Memorandum of Association on the Establishment of BIMSTEC Technology Transfer Facility in Sri Lanka.
  • The leaders also direct the BIMSTEC Network of National Centres of Coordination in Traditional Medicine and its Task Force to expand and deepen cooperation in the sector o traditional medicines.
