An elastic or resilient body which deforms or deflects when load is applied and regains its original shape when load is removed is called as spring.
- These springs are used to apply and measure force.
- Springs in clocks or toys store energy.
- Springs in vehicle suspension systems absorb shocks and vibrations.
- Springs used for such purposes are helical compression or tension springs, torsion springs, Belleville springs, laminated springs, etc.
