Explanation

A transition is a smooth change from one shot, on sequence to another. It is a process wherein two shots are combined to form a single shot. There are different techniques of transition such as cut, wipe, dissolve, fade etc. The most common type of transition is cut and is mostly used to show a same scene in different angles. Wipe is the most attractive and the least used transition shot in the television. After the cut, the most frequently used transition in television is the dissolve. It is the simultaneously fading out of one shot and the entry of another shot. Fade is sometimes used to assume the passage of time.
