Video standards are usually determined by a country. There are three main video standards which are used in the world today. They are NTSC, PAL and SECAM. NTSC stands for National Television Standards Committee. In 1953, The NTSC created a standard for television broadcasting of color signals. It is prevalent in North America, South America, Japan and South America. PAL stands for Phase Alteration [by] Line and it is a standard for the color televisions in countries wherein the AC power used in 50Hertz. SECAM is an analog television system, and it uses frequency modulation to encode the prominence information. There are three varieties of SECAM – French SECAM, MESECAM and D-SECAM.
