Explanation
An agency is also commonly known as press agency, wire service or news service. The main role of an agency is to supply the news to its subscribers. The major news agencies prepare hard news stories or feature stories which can be used by other news organizations with little or no modifications. Today, most of the printed or broadcast news comes mainly from the AP, AFP and Reuters. These are the largest news agencies in the world. AP is situated in United States, AFP in France and Reuters in great Britain. These along few other agencies have enough financial resources to hire experienced reporters for the purpose of gathering the news.
