Explanation

An editorial is the views and opinions of an individual on a particular topic. It consists of an introduction, body and conclusion like any other news story. The editor or the writer delivers the opinion in a professional manner. Editorials try to influence the public opinion and encourage the critical thinking. There are four types of editorials – explain, criticize, persuade and praise. The editors use the editorial to explain how the newspaper covered a sensitive topic. The editors also criticize the decisions or situations while identifying a problem. Editorials also persuade the people to seek solution rather than focusing on the problem. The best examples of persuading editorials are political endorsements. Editorials also praise the people or the community for their good work and support.
