Explanation

The Associated Press is an American non profit news agency and was founded in May, 1846. According to the report of 2005, the news collected by AP was published by more than 1700 newspapers and more than 5001 television and radio broadcasters. The UPI was founded by Edward Willis Scripps in 1907. He started two regional news services to meet the needs of his own newspaper. Another association named the Publishers Press Association was founded in 1898. In 1907, Scripps combined his UPA with PPA. In 1918, UPA suffered from a major credibility loss. During this downfall, International News Service emerged in 1956. Later on, it was merged with UPA on 24th May to become UPI. Kyodo is a non profit news agency which is based in Minato at Tokyo. The aim of the agency is to distribute newspapers, radio and television networks in Japan. It provides employment to around 1000 reporters and photographers. The Telegraph Agency of Soviet Union was established on 25th July 1925.
