What is NetBIOS Protocol? NetBIOS protocol utilizes the 802.2 type 1 mode for the purpose of providing the NetBIOS/NetBEUI name service and also the datagram service. It uses 802.2 type 2 modes for the purpose of providing the NetBIOS/NetBEUI session service. Broadcast messages are used widely using NBProtocol which is accountable for its reputation as a chatty interface.
NB Protocol is unroutable. Only for the purpose of communication with devices in the same broadcast domain, NB protocol is used. It can be used with network segments connected with each other through bridges.
