Ok, so here we come to those words which need a preposition to be used with them.

Dispose of means ‘get rid of’. So, you ‘dispose of’ something.

When it is an accident, you meet with it. If it is a friend, you meet him.

When you suggest a plan, you propose to do something.

You listen to someone rather than listening him.

Putting yourself forward a candidate for a course or job – you are ‘applying to’ it.

Something is ‘of use’ or ‘of no use’.

You have to ‘beware of’ something not ‘beware it’

When you make up for something, you ‘compensate for’ it

When you look into a matter, you enquire into it.

When you want someone to open the door, you knock at it rather than knocking it.

When you are concerned, you care for someone rather than caring him.

Say: The mother cares for the little baby.
