Fact table and Dimension table Fact tables and dimension tables are involved in producing a star schema. A fact table is the central table in a star schema of a data warehouse. A fact table stores quantitative information for analysis and is often denormalized. Dimension tables provide descriptive or contextual information for the measurement of a fact table. On the other hand, fact tables provide the measurement of an enterprise. Dimension table and fact table are mainly used in data warehousing. The fact table mainly consists of business facts and foreign keys that refer to primary keys in the dimension tables.
